OceansAlaska Marine Science Center is conducting relevant research of local and regional scope. Oyster spat setting and geoduck spat grow out trials are being conducted. Algae production is underway for the purpose of feeding the oyster and geoduck spat as they grow to farm ready size. We are also working with SeaGrant on their Invasive tunicate project, and to monitor environmental parameters such as water temperature and pH. OceanAlaska is working with UAS and Ketchikan Highschool to do underwater cleanup of the Ketchikan waterfront. Further research projects are in the planning stages, to be started spring and summer of 2012.
